We wish to make you aware of a scam incident attempted in the name of Age UK Warwickshire.

An incident occurred in Kenilworth earlier this week, where a man knocked on the door of a vulnerable person stating he was from Age UK, he then asked the client if they wanted any shopping doing, and left his telephone number with the resident, who at the time did not need any assistance. The man, who said his name was Mark, did not provide any ID to this resident and it is believed that the man was trying to obtain money by deceit.

Age UK Warwickshire would like to reassure you that they will never turn up at residents properties without first arranging a visit, they will also provide ID upon arrival, and there will always be a record of someone who has been referred for home help services before anyone turns up at residents doors.

Age UK have reported this matter to the Police, and all staff at Age UK have been made aware of this scam taking place to ensure they are alert to what is happening.

Warwickshire Safeguarding would urge you to remain vigilant, and if you have a vulnerable or elderly neighbour/family/friend please ensure that they are aware of this possible scam taking place across Warwickshire.
