The Samaritans, a suicide prevention charity, was established in 1953 by Chad Varah, becoming the world's first telephone support service. Now they have 201 branches across the UK and Republic of Ireland, and with over 20,000 volunteers helping them achieve their goal of suicide prevention and mental health support.

The Samaritans have recently published an article showcasing the report highlighting the link between socioeconomic disadvantage and suicidal behaviour.
