'Remove, Remove, Remove' advice sent to Warwickshire communities

It has been reported by the West Midlands police that hate letters, believed to be part of a national series, have continued to be received within the West Midlands. The content of these letters are identical and are derogative towards the Muslim community and police officers. In addition, two of these letters have contained a white powder substance.

The incidents highlighted by the report centred on Mendip House, part of Somerset Court. People with autism living in a care home in Somerset were taunted, bullied and humiliated by staff, a review has found. 

Workers at the home run by the National Autistic Society threw objects at residents and teased and swore at them, the report from the Somerset Safeguarding Adults Board (SSAB) says.

Health secretary Jeremy Hunt has been named as secretary of state for health and social care in this week's Cabinet reshuffle. Hunt and his department, which has been renamed 'The Department of Health and Social Care', will continue to have responsibility for both health and adult social care policy, but they will also be given responsibility for the green paper on social care for older people, which had previously sat with the Cabinet Office.
