Council criticised for not consulting woman before banning relative from visiting care home - Community Care

Community Care report on the recent Local Government Ombudsman investigation into Nottinghamshire Council.

It has been reported by the Local Government Ombudsman that Nottinghamshire Council were found not to consult a resident before banning their relative from visiting the care home, as well as failing to undertake a risk assessment despite the ban lasting two years.

Eleven traveller family members convicted following slavery trials - BBC News

BBC News have reported on the recent convictions of eleven people from the same traveller family. Stating; "the 10 men and one woman ran a driveway resurfacing company which used workers housed in caravans without running water or toilet facilities." 

They have all been convicted following a series of trials for modern slavery offences, for which they will be sentenced in September.

Slavery and trafficking 'affecting every town and city' in UK - BBC News

BBC News have recently published an article stating that modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK is "far more prevalent than previously thought," the National Crime Agency (NCA) has said.

The NCA have claimed that their previous estimation of 10,000 - 13,000 victims in the UK were found to be "the tip of the iceberg".
