Many different CSE awareness raising events are taking place across the country.  To show our support, Warwickshire Police, Barnardo's and Warwickshire County Council will raising awareness across social media #CSEDay18.

What is happening in Warwickshire?
Throughout CSE Awareness Week, key messages and campaigns will focus upon raising awareness set around a different theme each day:
Monday - businesses
Tuesday - worried about friends?
Wednesday - grooming and online webchat (click here for further information)
Thursday - youth conference
Friday - boys (click here for further information)
Saturday - good news stories
Sunday - awareness raising - national awareness day messages

Warwickshire's third annual CSE Youth Conference takes place on Friday 16th March at Dunchurch Park, Rugby, which will focus on online exploitation, as well as running a live webchat and launching new resources to help raise awareness.

This follows the success of last year’s conference which saw 15 schools from across the county, bringing pupils from years nine and 10, who spent the day discussing issues surrounding sexting and sharing images.

The conference will be attended by staff and pupils from 18 Warwickshire secondary schools, Warwickshire Police, Warwickshire County Council, Barnardo’s and support agencies and will explore the impact of social media both in positive terms and also on young people’s self esteem and well-being.  Students will take part in five interactive workshops to explore issues relating to all aspects of social media, including staying safe online and making the right choices.  Three staff workshops for teachers will also take place.  The keynote speaker is Professor Andy Phippen, Professor of Social Responsibility in IT at Plymouth University.  Help and advice from a variety of support organisations will be available throughout the day.

Warwickshire County Council’s Respect Yourself team has worked with their Youth Project Board, who have developed much of the material for the day and will be helping to run many of the sessions.
