Warwickshire is one of the 28 'trailblazer' areas funded by the Department of Communities and Local Government as part of a £20 million programme aiming to prevent households becoming homeless.  p.h.i.l is an new homelessness prevention project that aims to first identify and then offer support to households at risk of homelessness.  The project works from the perspective that prevention is better than cure, offering support as early as possible before households reach crisis point.  

This could include households who are 1 or 2 months behind with their rent or where individuals have been asked to leave home by their parents.  With the right interventions at the right time, homelessness may  be avoided.  

What do p.h.i.l offer?
The programme aims to use innovative new methods to prevent homelessness, through data matching, enhanced partnership working, lightning referrals and community mentors:

• Assign a dedicated Prevention Co-ordinator to customers
• Full assessment of housing support, wellbeing needs and aspirations
• Create a personal Housing and Wellbeing plan
• Work with and support the customer to take steps to improve their situation
• Offer digital self-help solution

If p.h.i.l can't prevent eviction, they would support with the client with their next move.
