The 'Think Family Protocol' has been developed by Warwickshire Safeguarding Adults Board (WSAB) and Warwickshire Safeguarding Children Board (WSCB). The aim is to ensure that practitioners working within partner organisations, be that with an adult, or a child, can identify and recognise the wider needs of the family in relation to safeguarding.

Everyone has a responsibility to take a ‘Think Family’ approach in the context of safeguarding children and adults. Warwickshire Safeguarding Adults Board (WSAB) and Warwickshire Safeguarding Children’s Board (WSCB) recognise this to be a shared responsibility which must be at the heart of practice across all partner agencies within WSAB and WSCB.

The new ‘Think Family’ Protocol has been developed for partner organisations to ensure that;

• Practitioners working with adults with care and supports needs IDENTIFY where there are children and young people present in the same household and/or acting as carers; or

• Practitioners working with children and young people RECOGNISE the needs of adults with care and support needs as service users (customers) as well as parents and carers.
