carers rights day

Thursday 21 November 2019 is Carers Rights Day, with the theme "Helping you find your way". We are supporting one of our Partners, Warwickshire County Council, to promote the following objectives alongside the National Charity, Carers UK:

  1. To ensure carers are aware of their rights
  2. To ensure carers know where to get help and support from
  3. To ensure that everyone is aware of the needs of carers

Facts and Figures

  • One in ten Warwickshire residents (around 60,000) are caring for family, loved ones or friends who could not cope without their help
  • Eight out of ten informal carers juggle a career with their responsibilities as a main carer. Nationally 600 carers leave work daily due to the pressures of caring responsibilities
  • There are currently over 4,000 carers under the age of 18 years of age
  • Carers save the local economy over £1.1 billion annually
  • Four out of five of us will have some caring responsibility at some stage in our lives

Warwickshire Safeguarding, along with Warwickshire County Council, value the contribution of all carers and want to ensure that they get the help they need.

The Warwickshire Carer Wellbeing Service provided by the Carers Trust Heart of England is WCC's commissioned service to support carers health and wellbeing. Anyone who cares for family and friends can get free advice and support. We ask you to encourage carers to register with the service as soon as possible so they can access the help they need on the contact details below:
